MzMarty, the author and illustrator of the Mr. Moody books, was raised in a giant day care center that overflowed with 75 kids 25 employees and a petting zoo of, throughout the years, over 100 animals! On any given day you could see kids come in before the sun had come up. Sleep another hour and wake to the smell of pancakes or eggs, spinach and bacon. After breakfast everyone got to go outside to visit the baby alligators and turtles, and see the monkey.
When they were not playing in the mud with a goat, blowing bubbles the size of a hula hoops, or having their faces painted, they were riding a retired racehorse and swimming in a gas heated pool. There were computer classes, math and dance classes, a healthy lunch and a refreshing nap.
MzMarty’s job afterschool was to keep the kids that were cleaner than when they arrived, clean and quiet until their parents came to pick them up.
So, she told stories. Stories that she created and had drawn on the big wall that was a chalk board. And as she revealed the ending, she noticed that the parents lingered to hear the completion of her stories.
On Saturday all of the kids and teachers were gone. MzMarty would follow her dad around and help fix all of the toys. She even had her own tool belt. Her mom would fold about a thousand cloth diapers and wash down the tables, walls and everything else. After the chores were done MzMarty and her family would have a big lunch and play games. Many times, MzMarty’s siblings and her mom would play cards while they waited for baby puppies to be born. Or have friends over to start the next rock band or have skateboarding contests in the back yard until dark.
Then all of the stories went into a box, and life took over. MzMarty served our country, married a drummer and raised a beautiful boy. Subsequently she became very ill. One day MzMarty’s boy found a box of stories and drawings and brought it to her. He asked her to finish them all especially the one with the monkey and the other with the horse. So she is.
MzMarty’s mission is to channel her empathy for children of all ages who need to express their emotions and feelings. We can all, better explain, how we feel and can muster the ability to stand up for ourselves, (and others,) when we have a strong grasp of our inner strengths.
With these skills we are more capable of managing the appropriate responses to daily dilemmas and frustrations. MzMarty wishes to give teachers, counselors, therapists and police, a resource that will break the ice and engage in a more open dialogue so the needs of the child can be met.
MzMarty wishes to incorporate peaceful and thoughtful games and activities that can help empower children's lives by making coloring a tool for problem solving there will be an additional outlet for discussion.
MzMarty's Philosophy is to create the best product in her field that will encourage children to ask for what they need, notice the needs of others, and speak up for those who cannot.
When a child speaks up for his or her-self they are examples to others in their group or class that we all can speak up. So some of the children watching will do the same.
2 million children in the world are enslaved by sex trafficking. Up to 300,000 children are lured into commercial sex trade in United States.
Now is the time to teach children to speak up!
